Mission of the School – Believe Memphis Academy Charter School prepares scholars in grades 4 through 8 with the academic rigor, robust supports, and leadership development necessary to excel in high school, thrive in college, and lead lives full of opportunity (“Mission”).

+ Front Desk Coordinator (2018-19)

Position Summary
As the Founding Front Desk Coordinator (“FDC”) of Believe Memphis Academy Charter School (“Believe Memphis Academy” or “the School”), this person will support the operations and logistics necessary to ensure every scholar receives high quality instruction delivered every single day. Specifically, the FDC will oversee the front office management of the School. The FDC will report directly to the Director of Operations (“DOO”) and will work directly with the families of our scholars.

The commitment for this position begins as soon as possible. Given the urgent and demanding work of founding a high-performing charter school, however, there will be opportunities and requirements to begin the work before the official start date.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to and alignment with the Mission, vision, and core values of Believe Memphis Academy
  • Unwavering belief in the potential that all students can learn paired with an unshakeable conviction to ensure all students will learn
  • At least 2 years of office management experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced and dynamic team environment where responsibility for student success is shared and owned by everyone
  • Commitment to solutions-based problem solving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and ability to work with Student Information Systems
  • Pristine organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Punctuality and attention to details are critical
  • Servant-minded leadership, knowing that behind-the-scenes work is critical to the success of our teachers, scholars, and School
  • Warm demeanor that creates a welcoming atmosphere, coupled with a strong ability to uphold and execute firm expectations

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure scholar attendance is recorded and reported on daily basis
  • Communicate daily with families in greeting, calling for absent scholars, and handling the office phone to take calls from families, vendors, or general inquiry phone calls
  • Manage the schedule and calendar of the School to ensure building is ready for visitors and families are informed of upcoming events and opportunities
  • Take an active role in building positive scholar and team culture of the entire School, every minute of every day that is aligned to Mission, vision, and core values of Believe Memphis Academy
  • Implement regularly shared feedback with grace and urgency for the betterment of scholar achievement, promoting positive school culture, and upholding professional team culture
  • Communicate respectfully and collaboratively with families and team members on consistent basis
  • Work collaboratively within a team to implement operational and cultural plans that support the Mission, vision, and core values of the School

Compensation
Compensation for this position will be competitive with Shelby County Schools District averages and commensurate with proven track record of successful experience.

+ Teacher (2019-20)

Position Summary
As a Founding Teacher of Believe Memphis Academy Charter School (“Believe Memphis Academy” or “the School”), this person will ensure every scholar receives high quality instruction delivered every single day. Each teacher will report directly to the Head of School (“HOS”), receiving regular feedback and coaching around his or her instructional and leadership capacity.

The commitment for this position begins July 1, 2018. Given the urgent and demanding work of founding a high-performing charter school, however, there will be opportunities and requirements to begin the work before the official start date.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Tennessee Teacher License with certification in desired grade and subject
  • Strong commitment to and alignment with the Mission, vision, core values of Believe Memphis Academy
  • Unwavering belief in the potential that all students can learn paired with an unshakeable conviction to ensure all students will learn
  • Ability to deliver high quality instruction in a rigorous, structured, and joyful classroom
  • Leadership experience with quantifiable results of success, outperforming peers in parallel fields and markets
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced and dynamic team environment where responsibility for student success is shared and owned by everyone
  • Commitment to solutions-based problem solving
  • Expertise and love of instructional content

Responsibilities:

  • Own the planning, teaching, and reflecting of content/grade(s) assigned. This means completing and submitting intellectually prepared planning documents by the stated deadline on an on-going basis, applying the feedback given before teaching each lesson, being receptive to coaching and feedback on the execution of lessons, and tracking data to create further instruction and intervention plans for scholars
  • In regards to intellectually prepared planning documents, create lesson plans that are aligned to rigorous benchmark assessments and tied to state and nationally standardized assessments and standards, with key points, anticipated scholar error, and exemplar responses
  • Lead reading intervention, enrichment groups, clubs, and/or extra tutoring for up to 2 hours each day
  • Take an active role in building positive scholar and team culture of the entire School, every minute of every day that is aligned to Mission, vision, and core values of Believe Memphis Academy
  • Implement regularly shared feedback with grace and urgency for the betterment of scholar achievement, promoting positive school culture, and upholding professional team culture
  • Communicate respectfully and collaboratively with families on consistent basis
  • Work collaboratively within a team to implement instructional and cultural plans that support the Mission, vision, core values of the School
  • Demonstrate a Mission-first mindset to ensure all decisions and actions are rooted in ensuring all scholars are prepared to excel in high school, thrive and college, and lead lives of excellence

+ Bus Monitor (2018-19)

Position Summary
As a Bus Monitor for Believe Memphis Academy Charter School (“Believe Memphis Academy” or “the School”), this person will ensure every scholar remains safe on the bus each morning and afternoon. Bus Monitors will report directly to the Director of Operations (“DOO”).

The contract for this position begins July 1, 2018 and expires on June 30, 2019.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to and alignment with the Mission, vision, and core values of Believe Memphis Academy
  • Ability to hold scholars to high expectation with a warm-strict approach
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families, scholars, and school staff
  • Commitment to solutions-based problem solving
  • Belief in the potential of all students

Responsibilities:

  • Arrive on time or early to board the bus every school-day morning and afternoon
  • Direct scholars to their assigned seats as they enter the bus
  • Monitor scholars to make sure they stay in their seats
  • Promote a bus culture that is aligned to Mission, vision, and core values of Believe Memphis Academy
  • Communicate respectfully and collaboratively with families on consistent basis
  • Work collaboratively with the bus driver to support a safe and calm environment on the bus
  • Demonstrate a Mission-first mindset to ensure all decisions and actions are rooted in ensuring all scholars are safe and demonstrating behavior that aligns with our school values and culture

Compensation
Compensation for this position will be paid at an hourly rate.
